G-Dragon Addresses Viral Instagram Account Sharing His Photos

In November 2024, G-Dragon, the leader of the renowned K-pop group BIGBANG, addressed the emergence of an Instagram account, @8lo8lo8lowme, which had been sharing candid photos of his daily life. During an appearance on MBC FM4U’s ‘Kim Eana’s Starry Night’ on November 18, G-Dragon clarified that he does not own this account and is unaware of the individual’s identity behind it.

The account in question gained attention for posting casual snapshots of G-Dragon, leading to speculation about its authenticity. G-Dragon expressed his curiosity, stating, “I also tried to track this person down. First of all, it’s not me. I don’t know who they are, but they seem to communicate with me in some way.”

Despite attempts to contact the account owner, G-Dragon received no response, adding to the mystery surrounding the account. He mentioned that he refers to the individual as ‘Romy’ and that his messages have been read but not replied to.

The account @8lo8lo8lowme has amassed over 540,000 followers and exclusively follows G-Dragon. The username ‘8lo8lo8lowme’ references a phrase popularized by G-Dragon a decade ago during an LG Uplus advertising campaign, where ‘팔로팔로미’ (‘follow-follow-me’) was used to promote their LTE-A broadband service.

This incident highlights the complexities celebrities face with unauthorized social media accounts and the challenges in managing their digital presence.
